I’m a public health researcher who specializes in measuring complex human behaviours in conflict and crisis zones. My work focuses on understanding the interplay between vulnerability and resilience in humanitarian settings. I have a particular interest in the gendered dimension of human rights, and have worked on better understanding sexual violence in conflict, human trafficking, conservation efforts in unstable environments and natural resource extraction. I've spent the past decade traveling through central Africa and other remote places to better understand how humans face adversity and find new and innovative ways to recover from crises.
